What is included
Seven things, on every hosting plan
These apply to Ashford, Kingsley and Alderley alike.
Certificates are issued, installed and renewed automatically for every site we host, so nothing expires quietly at the weekend.
Malicious requests are filtered before they reach your website.
Volumetric attack mitigation runs across the whole platform.
Sites are scanned automatically, and detected threats are removed quickly rather than emailed to you as homework.
Every hosting plan is backed up daily. Website files and mailboxes are kept for up to 30 days and databases for up to 60, so a bad afternoon stays recoverable. A particular snapshot is not guaranteed to be complete, so keep your own copy of anything you cannot lose.
Uptime and security monitoring runs continuously on managed plans, with a UK team behind the alerts.
Available on the Client Area, so the account that controls the hosting is protected as well as the site itself.

What this does not cover
Platform security is ours. Application security is shared. We cannot stop a weak administrator password, an abandoned plugin with a known vulnerability, or a theme nobody has updated since it was installed. On Kingsley and Alderley we manage those updates for you. On Ashford they are yours, and on Ellistone the whole operating system is yours.
See what managed coversIs SSL really free?
Yes, on every hosting plan. Certificates are issued, installed and renewed automatically, and a renewal that fails is our alert to answer.
What happens if my site is hacked?
Tell us straight away. Malware scanning may already have flagged it. We can restore from a backup within the 30-day window while we work out how it happened.
Do you offer a security guarantee?
No, and be wary of anyone who does. We publish what is included and what is shared, because a guarantee that ignores your own passwords and plugins is not worth reading.
Can I get a backup taken off-platform?
Ask. For anything genuinely irreplaceable, a copy somewhere independent of your host is always the right answer.
Small by name.
Serious about the work.
If you know which plan you want, take it. If you would rather talk it through first, tell us what the website has to do.
